Have you ever seen the photos of cute babies who just turned one and did a "cake smash" photo session to celebrate? We decided it would be fun to do this type of session with sweet baby Ethan. The thought process went something like this: cake=check, backdrop=check, lighting=check, adorable baby=double check, finding out if baby actually likes cake= ummmmmmm...oops! It turns out this absolutely adorable boy is not so much into sweets, but if it had been a big bowl of guacamole in front of him, he would have licked it clean. Thank you so much Ethan for being such a trooper; smiling and laughing the whole time! p.s. I owe you a dinner at Anitas with all the guac you can eat - hr
Glowing
This Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting with the sweetest mommy-to-be to help document this exciting time in her and her family's lives. Varying shades of pink, pandas, and pretty little ruffles make up this sweet baby girl's adorable nursery. The first grandchild on both sides, she is sure to be a true princess! Wear your crown proudly sweet girl, you are loved by so many already - hr
Street Photography
Practice, practice, practice. Is it just me or is the best way to learn always come back to simply practice? My favorite way lately to do just that is through Street Photography. Street Photography is capturing candid portraits of strangers as you see them, for lack of a better term, on the street :) Whether it's studying the work of greats such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Frank, or just hitting the pavement, one of the most amazing things this genre helps you realize is the true beauty, humor, and emotion people display when they aren't saying "CHEEEEESE!" Wishing you a weekend filled with practicing what you love -hr
Grand Revival
Friday night I met up with Grand Revival, a local band, to photograph their performance at Jammin' Java. I'm ashamed to admit that I had not seen them perform prior to Friday night, so I assumed they would be similar to other young bands, you know the type, where every song sounds about the same? Let me just say, I was so very, very wrong, Oh soooo wrong. Did I mention that I was wrong? These guys were absolutely a-maz-ing! With a unique sound that gripped the audience and an energy that was contagious they are definitely a band to go see... and then go see at least 10 more times. Thank you gentlemen for an outstanding show! Looking forward to another one - hr
